Colin Baker (d. 8 Haziran 1943), 1974-1976 yılları arasında BBC drama dizisi The Brothers'ta Paul Merroney karakterini canlandıran ve 1984-1986 yılları arasında uzun soluklu bilimkurgu televizyon dizisi Doctor Who'da Doktor'un altıncı enkarnasyonunu oynayan İngiliz oyuncudur. Baker'ın Doktor olarak görev yaptığı dönem dizi için tartışmalı bir dönem olmuş, yapımına ara verilmiş ve BBC yöneticisi Michael Grade'in emriyle değiştirilmiştir.
İlk yılları
[değiştir | kaynağı değiştir]Colin Baker Waterloo, Londra, İngiltere'de doğdu. Üç yaşındayken ailesiyle birlikte kuzeye, Rochdale'e taşındı. St Bede's College, Manchester'da eğitim gördü ve burada Fransızca, Latince ve Yunanca A-level'larını geçti.[1] Özellikle Latince ve Yunancada güçlü olan Baker, iki A notu aldı.[2] Londra'da bir kolejde hukuk eğitimi aldı[3] ve daha sonra avukat olmak için eğitim gördü.[4] Baker 23 yaşındayken London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art'a (LAMDA) kaydoldu.[5]

Having recently been digging out information about my ancestors, I would love to go back to to [sic] the end of the 18th Century and see just what it was like being a labourer on the land as my great, great great grandfather Thomas Baker was in Lound in Suffolk in the 1790s and it would enable me to go back a bit further too and find out about Thomas' parents and where they came from. I would like too to find out about my mother's Irish ancestry, which is quite difficult to uncover.
