Dimetandrolon

Gelişimsel kod adı CDB-1321 ile de bilinen Dimetandrolon, potansiyel klinik kullanım için araştırılmakta olan deneysel bir androjen / anabolik steroid (AAS) ve progestojen ilacıdır.[1][2][3]
Dimetandrolon bir AAS'dir ve bu nedenle testosteron gibi androjenlerin biyolojik hedefi olan androjen reseptörünün bir agonistidir.[1] Aynı zamanda bir progestin veya sentetik bir progestojendir ve dolayısıyla progesteron gibi progestojenlerin biyolojik hedefi olan progesteron reseptörünün bir agonistidir.[1] Androjenik ve progestojenik aktivitesi nedeniyle dimetandrolonun antigonadotropik etkileri vardır.[1] Östrojenik aktiviteye sahip değildir.[1][4]
Dimetandrolon ilk olarak 1997'de tanımlanmıştır.[5] Amerika Birleşik Devletleri hükümetine bağlı bir kurum olan Ulusal Çocuk Sağlığı ve İnsani Gelişme Enstitüsü'nün Doğum Kontrol Geliştirme Şubesi tarafından geliştirilmiştir.[1][6]
Dimetandrolonun bir esteri ve ön ilacı olan dimethandrolone undecanoate (DMAU) (CDB-4521), erkekler için doğum kontrol hapı ve erkekler için androjen replasman tedavisinde potansiyel kullanım için geliştirilme aşamasındadır.[1][2][3][7]
