Rhodobacter, taksonomide Alphaproteobacteria sınıfında Rhodobacteraceae familyasına ait bir bakteri cinsidir.^[3] Rhodobacterin en ünlü türleri, bakteriyel fotosentezi incelemek için örnek organizmalar olarak kullanılan Rhodobacter sphaeroides ve Rhodobacter capsulatustur.
