Tür, koleksiyoncusu Brezilyalı botanikçi Edmundo Pereira'nın adını aldı (* 1914, † 1986).

C. pereirae türü Brezilya'nın Espírito Santo ve Minas Gerais eyaletlerinde, deniz seviyesinden 1000 ila 1600 metre yükseklikte bulundu.
