Rhodobacter, taksonomide Rhodobacteraceae'nin bir cinsidir.^[1] Rhodobacter'in en ünlü türleri, bakteriyel fotosentezi incelemek için örnek organizmalar olarak kullanılan Rhodobacter sphaeroides ve Rhodobacter capsulatus'tur.
