Brimley 27 Eylül 1934'te Salt Lake City, Utah'da doğdu. Amerikan Donanması'nda görev aldıktan sonra Hollywood'a geçiş yaparak yer aldığı yapımlar; The China Syndrome (1979), The Thing (1982) ve The Natural (1984) vb. ile tanındı. Ayrıca televizyon ekranlarında Quaker Oats Firması'nın ve^[2] Liberty Medikal'in ürünlerinin ekran yüzü oldu. Oyunculuk dışında özel koruma, şarkıcı ve çiftçi olarak çalıştı.

Amerikalı oyuncu ve şarkıcı Wilford Brimley 1 Ağustos 2020'de St. George, Utah'da böbrek yetmezliği tedavisi gördüğü bir hastanede 85 yaşında vefat etti.^[3]
