Rickettsia helvetica,[2] Dermacentor reticulatus ve diğer kenelerde bulunan bir bakteri türüdür. İnsanlar için patojen olduğundan şüphelenilmektedir ancak kesin olarak ispatlanamamıştır.[3][4] İlk olarak 1979'da İsviçre'de Ixodes ricinus türü kenelerde keşfedilmiştir, 1993'te ilk defa izole edilmiştir.[1] Başlangıçta R. helvetica'nın insanlar ve hayvanlar için zararsız olduğu düşünülmesine rağmen, bazı vaka bildirimleri insanlarda nonspesifik bir ateşle seyreden bir hastalığa neden olduğunu göstermektedir.[3][4][5][6] 2010 yılındaki bir vaka raporunda ise kene kaynaklı bir R. helvetica menenjiti bildirilmektedir.[7]
