Adını Komodor Oliver Hazard Perry’den alan Perry sınıfı firkateyn havaya güdümlü silah sistemi kullanır. FFG-12 adını İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nda ölen komutan George Philip’ten aldı. FFG-12 1980 yılında denize indirildi, 2003 yılında hizmetten alındı. FFG-14 ise adını Amiral John H. Sides’tan aldı. 1981 yılında hizmete giren FFG 14 İran-Irak savaşı sırasında İran Hava Yollarına ait IR-655 sefer sayılı yolcu uçağının vurulması 60’ı çocuk 290 yolcunun ölmesi olayına dolaylı olarak karıştı. Sides, bu sırada İran karasularındaydı. ABD hükümeti İran’a 61,8 milyon dolar tazminat ödedi. |

Amerikan Oliver Hazard Perry sınıfı güdümlü mermi firkateyni'dir . Türk Donanması'nda adı Gaziantep sınıfı dır.
Adını Komodor Oliver Hazard Perry’den alan Perry sınıfı firkateyn havaya güdümlü silah sistemi kullanır. FFG-12 adını İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nda ölen komutan George Philip’ten aldı. FFG-12 1980 yılında denize indirildi, 2003 yılında hizmetten alındı. FFG-14 ise adını Amiral John H. Sides’tan aldı. 1981 yılında hizmete giren FFG 14 İran-Irak savaşı sırasında İran Hava Yollarına ait IR-655 sefer sayılı yolcu uçağının vurulması 60’ı çocuk 290 yolcunun ölmesi olayına dolaylı olarak karıştı. Sides, bu sırada İran karasularındaydı. ABD hükümeti İran’a 61,8 milyon dolar tazminat ödedi.
