English: A diagram showing four dinosaur skulls that have been referred to the genus Mamenchisaurus. Including the holotype specimens of M. youngi M. jingyanensis and M. sinocanadorum, and a specimen referred to M. hochuanensis.

• Mamenchisaurus is sometimes considered a 'wastebasket taxon', with numerous questionable species.^[1] It is possible that with a revision of the genus that some, or none, of the skulls in this diagram end up in the genus Mamenchisaurus.

• M. youngi (ZDM0083) based on Figure 2 in Pi et al. (1996).^[2]

• M. jingyanensis (CV00734) based on Figure 1 in Zhang et al. (1998).^[3] Note: Photographs of the reconstructed M. jingyanensis skull on museum mounts and photos of the mandible and maxilla look quite different than the reconstruction in Zhang et al. It is possible that a future reconstruction might differ somewhat than shown here.

• M. hochuanensis (ZDM0126) based on the photos available in Ye et al. (2001).^[4] Note: Unfortunately, only one skull measurement is provided, a narrow part of the parietal measuring 46 mm. All the images in Ye et al. are said to be in scale to one another, so the bones were scaled to the parietal measurement. ZDM0126 was referred to M. hochuanensis in 2001. However, a phylogenetic study by Moore et al. (2020) cast doubt on this specimen's referral to M. hochuanensis.^[1]

• M. sinocanadorum (IVPP V10603) based on the images in Russel and Zheng (1993).^[5] Note: A pterygoid bone was illustrated only in dorsal and ventral views, and the orientation of a possible ectopterygoid was not stated, so the lateral views of these bones shown here are speculative and greyed out.
