English: „Argent, a grouted Argent citygate azure on both sites two embattled towers roofed and slited sable sable in ratio 2:1; an escutcheon Argent, above a mountain vert between three trees issuant vert, an armed and langued gules doppel-tailed lion rampant azure.”

Deutsch: Das Wappen verbindet Motive von früheren Siegeln und Wappen. Die „alte Stadt“ führte um 1240 ein Siegel mit einem dreitürmigen Stadttor. Die vor 1266 gegründete „neue Stadt“ zeigte in dem 1296 bezeugten Siegel den welfischen Löwen, nach 1315 eine zweitürmige Zinnenmauer und auf und über ihr je einen Löwen. Der Löwe mit den Bäumen, der für den zwischenzeitlichen Ortsnamen „Löwenwalde“ redend war, steht zwischen den Türmen seit etwa 1600.
English: The arms were granted in 1951 and combine elements of the older seals and arms of the city. Uelzen became a city in the early 13th century and the oldest seal dates from 1240. It shows a three-towered gate. In 1266 the city used a seal with a gate and the lion of the Welfen dynasty. The next seal showed a lion on each of the two towers of the gate. Around 1600 a lion between two trees appears in a shield on the secret seals. These were canting, as the name at the time was Löwenwalde (lion-wood).
