Merhhab! Me again :) Could you please help me understand this piece of news? https://www.gazetevatan.com/magazin/survivordan-ayrilan-aycan-yanactan-nisa-yorumu-2021248

She has refused the proposal of a producer named Hilmi Topaloğlu to make an album, and that has been praised! Why? What is the point? "We can produce artists, not singers" what does that mean? That is supposed to be the translation of the Turkish sentence: "Bizden sanatçı çıkar, şarkıcı çıkmaz". Teşekkür ederim. 4nn1l2 (mesaj) 19.28, 17 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla

4nn1l2 Oh god, a typical Turkish news article. XD Though are you sure the link is correct? The source doesn't mention Topaloğlu or the quote. "Bizden sanatçı çıkar, şarkıcı çıkmaz" means "We produce/raise artists, not signers". There are a lot of "no-namer" people in Turkey which start a career in singing, end up with a few songs, some social media followers (generally minors) and somehow live a rich live. They are simply named singers, and aren't much respected. We call the big people, the real shit (xD), artists: people with a name (Müslüm Gürses, Zeki Müren, Orhan Gencebay etc.). Probably, by rejecting the offer, she refused to collab with Topaloğlu and become one of those ordinary signers, and that has been praised? Though again, I'm not sure if you've got the correct link. ~StyyxieEvet? 20.08, 17 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla
Thanks! The correct link is https://www.gazetevatan.com/magazin/sarkilarim-kalpleri-yumusatiyor-1055651
I don't know how I ended up with that link! probably a misclick. 4nn1l2 (mesaj) 20.18, 17 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla
Quite close to what I expected. Her father rejected multiple proposals of Topaloğlu to create an album by saying that they raise an artist and not a singer. This motivated Coşkun and got her to where she is today (5 years ago). I see no mention of praise or anything though... and also pretty ironic that the source calls her a "singer" literally the next sentence. :D ~StyyxieEvet? 20.24, 17 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla
Yeah, Thanks! That makes sense to me now. I'm interested to her mostly because she can speak Farsi quite well, and she is Iranian too by law, because she has an Iranian husband and her daughter is Iranian too according to the Iranian law, although both of them (mother and girl) were born in Istanbul, Turkey.
I implied praise because of the word ambitious (hırslandırarak). 4nn1l2 (mesaj) 20.35, 17 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla

Still searching... Since machine translation is not possible with magazines, could you please have a look at Ortadoğu Analiz Dergisi Sayı: 100 / Nisan 2021 - Dönüşen Ortadoğu ve Türkiye? (Here is a screenshot with her name underlined because I'm not sure if Google Books links are the same everywhere in the world.)

I have searched almost all Turkish newspapers and will publish my conclusions (evidence for her notability) at the SAS as soon as possible. Thanks a lot 4nn1l2 (mesaj) 23.57, 17 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla

Found a better link: https://www.orsam.org.tr//d_hbanaliz/1_OA_100.pdf page 110

You may ignore my question. With this link, I could use Google Translate myself. Thanks anyway, and sorry again for bothering you so much. 4nn1l2 (mesaj) 00.29, 18 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla

Hi 4nn1l2. I was already asleep by the time you sent the second message, and got a bit busy this morning. The source mostly talks about the movie and calls it a modern and secular Iran (I haven't seen the movie so don't now if anything is correct). The text ends with saying that Nazan is played by Coşkun and that the character in a way portraits the aforementioned modernism. ~StyyxieEvet? 12.43, 18 Şubat 2022 (UTC)Yanıtla
