Dumbo

Could you expand The Rescuers or Dumbo please? I feel these articles would be better if more information was provided. I.E. if there was a translation of the English articles. What do you say? Bambifan101 (mesaj) 21:18, 2 Şubat 2013 (UTC)

Hi Bambifan101, I'd like to develop the article "Dumbo" with pleasure, but as a standing rule, I have to watch the movie again to recollect the plot and other details (that's my peculiar habit!). Three or four decades before this date, I've seen this film in theaters and on TV (or was it laserdisk? or Betamax?) a couple of times for sure. I'll try to find a video copy of the film as soon as possible, then I'll think about it. As for the second part of your question: I'm strictly against 'direct translations' from English Vikipedia (articles of technical subjects are an exception). Turkish Vikipedia, like other local Vikies, should have distinctive characteristics, bear regional intelligence and information. I know what you meant about the plot, but I was just wanted to know if you ever saw Bambi or Aslan Kral or any of the others like you did with Dumbo. Even though you're not a native speaker of Turkish language, you're trying to bring in fresh new articles about "animated films" to this Vikipedia tirelessly. With a few exceptions, cartoon movies certainly are not my favourite genre and I can not help you in this respect. I wish you could find an enthusiastic Turkish speaking partner who also enjoys writing about this genre of cinema. Or, you may request help for translation from "Vikipedi:Çeviri grubu" (which is the counterpart of "Wikipedia:Translation" in English Wikipedia). Good luck to you. Quick question, I know you may not have seen the movie, but if I were to create an article about Lady and the Tramp, I can't figure out which title to use: Leydi ve Sokak Köpeği, or Leydi ile Serseri. The French article ("La Belle et le Clochard") lists both titles, but which one is the one I should use? Also, on IMDb, it lists Leydinin Aski as another Turkish title as well. So, should I use the original? Or the one that is closest to the original name? Or the most commonly used Turkish title? That is why I have not yet created an article about Lady and the Trramp. Both are not suitable. You should use "Leydinin Aşkı" (translates as "Lady's Lover") as the valid Turkish title. Disney's 1955 film "Lady and the Tramp" released in Turkey with this specific title in 26th of December, 1956 [1], whereas the original title accurately translates as "Hanımefendi ve sokak serserisi". Turkish Wikipedia prefers to use the first given poster title of a movie, if available. That Turkish poster title generally differs from the real meaning of the original title (as it is in many other countries). The above reference is a movie ad announcing the screening date of the film in İstanbul, which was taken from the digital archives of Milliyet, a distinguished Turkish newspaper founded in 1950 (by the way, membership is free!).
