István Mészáros (profesör)
István Mészáros (d. 19 Aralık 1930 – ö. 1 Ekim 2017), Macar Marksist filozof ve akademisyendir. Sussex Üniversitesi'nin Emeritus dereceli profesörü olarak görev yapmıştır. On beş yıl Sussex'de Felsefe Bölüm Başkanlığı yaptı. Daha önce York Üniversitesi'nde (1972-1976) dört yıl boyunca Felsefe ve Sosyal Bilimler Profesörü oldu.[1]
Georg Lukács tarafından öğretilen veya etkilenen, Ágnes Heller ve György Malkus'tan oluşan bir grup Macar filozofunun oluşturduğı Budapeşte Okulu (Lukács) üyesiydi. Macaristan'ın Sovyet istilasından sonra 1956'da Macaristan'dan ayrıldı ve İngiltere'ye yerleşmeden önce İtalya'nın Torino kentinde bir süre çalıştı. Sayısız kitap yazdı.
En "dikkat çekici" özelliği, Google Akademik'te arandığında yaklaşık 14.400 kişi atıf yapılarak önerilen Macar akademisyen ve filozof István Mészáros 1 Ekim 2017'de 86 yaşında ölmüştür.
