Copy of a photograph by the Rverend J.Segall,Missionary in Damascus for over Quarter of a century,from his book Travels through Northern Syria,published in 1910. The photograph shows the Rabbi { Hakham } of Aleppo with his secretary in western clothes, boe-tie and a fez,to his left is his Kawas {body guard }, in his traditional uniform.

This work was created in Syria and is now in the public domain there because its term of copyright has expired pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 12/2001, Syria's first ever copyright law (details).   • Article 24 - "Protection of audio - visual, broadcast, televised or cinematography work shall be enforceable for fifty years as of the date of producing the work."
  • Article 25 - "Photographic, fine arts or plastic arts shall be enforceable for ten years as of the date of producing such work."
