En İyi Sinematografi Akademi Ödülü

En İyi Sinematografi Akademi Ödülü kategorisinde 1939'dan 1967'ye kadar, 1957 yılı istisna olmak üzere, siyah-beyaz ve renkli sinematografiler ayrı ödüllerle değerlendirilmiştir. Bu dönemden sonra bu kategoride ödül kazanan tek siyah-beyaz film Schindler'in Listesi (1993) olmuştur.

Bu kategoride sessiz bir film için son Oskar'ı 1931'de Tabu ile Floyd Crosby almıştır. Hal Mohr 1935'teki A Midsummer Night's Dream adlı film ile Akademi Ödülleri tarihinde aday listesinde adı geçmeden ödül kazanan tek kişi olmuştur. Mohr ayrıca siyah-beyaz ve renkli sinematografi ödüllerinin ikisini de kazanan ilk kişi olmuştur.
